Govt of Karnataka celebrates the International Day of Democracy in a truly International style

On the International Day of Democracy in 2023, a historic event took place at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha. The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri. Siddharamaiah, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. DK Shivakumar, the Minister for Social Welfare, Dr H.C Mahadevappa, and several Cabinet Ministers came together to recite the Preamble of the Constitution of India, symbolizing a strong commitment to democratic values. The event was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Backward Class Welfare Department and Tribal Welfare Department.

Notably, Indians from 20 countries, 507 districts of India, and 31 districts of Karnataka participated in the event online. The overwhelming global participation resulted in a record-breaking 2,31,66,401 registrations, spanning across 84 countries. Consequently, the event received recognition from the 'World Books of Records, London' with a provisional certificate for this remarkable achievement.

Additionally, the event saw active involvement from around 10,000 enthusiastic children representing various schools in the vicinity of Vidhana Soudha. Numerous associations and NGOs also rallied together to make this event a resounding success.

Do I get any acknowledgement for participating in the initiative?

Everybody participated in the Human Chain will be eligible for an appreciation certificate from the Government of Karnataka. The certificate has a provision to embed the photograph of the participant(s), which can be a lifetime memory for the participants. In one photo frame, up to 5 members can be there, thus providing an opportunity for families to stand together, take a picture, upload it, and get it embedded in the certificate, which can be a precious memento.
